Realistically, the most highly touted skill position target left that the Longhorns could pursue that remains uncommitted is five-star Garland, TX, native and Lakeview Centennial High School running back Camar Wheaton. This 5-foot-11 and 180 pound native of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex could be one of the most highly prioritized targets for the rest of this cycle for the Texas coaching staff.

Texas did well to load up at the running back position in the last couple of recruiting cycles. They also hold a commitment from underrated three-star Hallettsville product Jonathon Brooks in the 2021 class. The highest rated running back prospect in the nation for the 2020 cycle, five-star Salpointe Catholic product Bijan Robinson, is also now with the Longhorns.

Just think about the pure level of running back talent and depth that would be present in the Longhorns backfield if Wheaton were to land on the Forty Acres. Wheaton holds offers from more than 25 schools outside of the one he holds from Texas. The other highlighting schools includes LSU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Alabama, and Ohio State.

Wheaton ranks as the nation’s No. 19 2021 high school prospect, No. 2 running back, and No. 2 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). This could be a real fight on the recruiting trail down the stretch between the two Red River rivals and the defending National Champion LSU to land the commitment of Wheaton in the end.
