3. Jordan Whittington, Wide Receiver

In the latest set of injury updates (report thanks to Horns247, paid content), the most crucial addition was the former five-star recruit and redshirt freshman wide receiver Jordan Whittington. This latest report shows that Whittington is likely to be held out of workouts for at least two weeks while he rests up for the start of the 2020 season.

During his true freshman campaign, Whittington missed pretty much all of the season thanks to a nagging sports hernia injury. He converted to running back last year in spring camp, with a decision that was lauded by Herman and the rest of his coaching staff. Whittington was originally moved from wide receiver to running back to fill depth issues at the position.

But Whittington has now moved back to his original position, and it would be good to see him get as much work back in the receiving corps as he possibly can this offseason. But this latest injury could hamper him heading into fall/training camp next month. The nature of this injury is the lower-body, more specifically soft-tissue and hamstring problems.

This doesn’t appear to be anything that will hold Whittington back specifically heading into the start of the 2020 regular season. Any work that he can get in right now is still much needed for him, though. If Whittington can get back in the mix and get his body ready for the start of his second year on the Forty Acres, this could still be a mostly successful offseason for him.
