The 2021 Texas football recruiting class gets a really good under-the-radar add on Aug. 6 by landing 3-Star Bishop Kenny C Michael Myslinski.

The waive of momentum continued for both the 2021 and 2022 Texas football recruiting classes on Aug. 6, with the commitment of three-star Bishop Kenny 6-foot-2 and 285 pound center Michael Myslinski coming in. Head coach Tom Herman and offensive line coach/co-offensive coordinator Herb Hand got a nice depth addition to the 2021 class on Thursday morning after hurting in the trenches for a while this offseason.

This is very welcome news for the Longhorns, as their luck with recruiting along the offensive started to diminish during the summer months. They’ve now missed out on elite in-state offensive line targets such as the Brockermeyer brothers (committed to Alabama) and five-star Donovan Jackson (committed to Ohio State).

But at least Texas got a rising center that could be a potential starter at least a few years down the line in Myslinski that had some difficult competition on the recruiting trail mainly from other Big Ten schools.

Myslinski held offers from 26 schools prior to officially announcing his commitment to Texas on his Twitter timeline on Aug. 6. The highlighting schools on his offer sheet included the Iowa Hawkeyes, Michigan State Spartans, Arkansas Razorbacks, Duke Blue Devils, East Carolina Pirates, Florida State Seminoles, Iowa Hawkeyes, Louisville Cardinals, Maryland Terrapins, Mizzou Tigers, Oregon Ducks, South Florida Bulls, and Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Considering the Longhorns weren’t heavily involved in Myslinski’s recruitment for most of this cycle, at least compared to the likes of Michigan State, Arkansas, Iowa, etc. this was impressive work from the coaching staff. Hand especially got a much needed underrated win on the trail after missing out on the Brockermeyer brothers.

What Texas is getting out of Myslinski is the nation’s No. 988 2021 high school prospect, No. 12 center, and No. 132 prospect out of Florida (247Sports Composite). The Top247 rankings slot him nearly as a top 100 prospect out of Florida too.

Myslinski in particular brings a very consistent motor, strong frame, and good (but developing) footwork to the table out of Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, FL. He’s a versatile and aware center that is reliable in both run and pass blocking. While his physical tools aren’t the greatest you’ll find among top center prospects that the Longhorns will go after.

By the time he arrives on the Forty Acres, Myslinski should be a rather polished center product. So there is the opportunity for him to make an early impact if the Longhorns are thin on depth in the center of the line. He still could add some size to his frame, and improve his lateral agility, but those could come over time.

As a whole, it is really good news for the Longhorns to add their second offensive lineman commit to the 2021 class. The other is four-star Katy-Taylor offensive tackle Hayden Conner, who is the only blue chip for Texas in this position group still.

Next. High profile transfers Texas could still pursue. dark

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2021 Texas recruiting class ranks at No. 12 in the nation and remains ahead of the Oklahoma Sooners in the top spot in the Big 12. Myslinski is the 16th commit to join the Longhorns 2021 class.
