Texas Football: 3 biggest Brandon Harris recruiting targets
At this point in time, the Longhorns 2021 recruiting class is going to revolve around the likelihood of them landing between three and five more blue chip prospects. Texas sits at 17 commits currently in the 2021 class, with the latest coming from under-the-radar three-star wide receiver Jaden Alexis.
But maybe the most highly touted target that the Longhorns are left pursuing on the recruiting trail for the 2021 cycle is four-star Cy Fair running back L.J. Johnson.
We could really put either Johnson or the elite five-star Lakeview Centennial running back Camar Wheaton in this spot. That all depends on who the Longhorns ultimately wind up getting the most interest from as we move closer to the Early Signing Period. But the 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions for Johnson currently give the edge to Texas to land his commitment over Texas A&M and the rest of the field.
As it stands now, Johnson has an impressive 40 schools on his offer. The highlights of which are Texas A&M, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida, Michigan, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ohio State, and USC.
Johnson ranks as the nation’s No. 42 2021 high school prospect, No. 4 running back, and No. 7 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). The Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 31 high school prospect, No. 2 running back, and No. 4 prospect out of Texas. If Texas manages to get his pledge when he announces, he would the second running back commit in the 2021 class along with three-star Hallettsville product Jonathon Brooks.
