Texas football targeting 3-Star TCU WR commit Chase Jackson
The 2021 Texas football recruiting class doesn’t appear to be close to done yet at receiver, as they offered a 3-Star TCU WR commit Chase Jackson.
If the 2021 Texas football recruiting class is ultimately able to nab a commitment from someone like four-star Royse City wide receiver Ketron Jackson in the coming months, then they will be mostly solidified in the receiving corps. Texas has already landed commitments from three-star Monarch wide receiver Jaden Alexis and three-star Warren Easton wide receiver Casey Cain in their 2021 class. But where else could they look for help if they don’t get a top target they want like Jackson, or even want to possibly go after a fourth wideout in the 2021 class?
Head coach Tom Herman and recently promoted wide receivers coach Andre Coleman seem to have an ideal under-the-radar target in mind at the position. Texas recently sent out an offer to a commit of a Big 12 foe. On Aug. 16, Texas had their offer to three-star Choctaw wide receiver and TCU Horned Frogs commit Chase Jackson officially received to round out the weekend.
This 6-foot-2 and 170 pound Choctaw, OK, native is still picking up some steam on the recruiting trail ahead of the start of the 2020 season. Head coach Gary Patterson and the Horned Frogs will have to put in work to retain the commitment of Jackson through the Early Signing Period by all indications.
There is definitely still a chance that the recruitment of Jackson could explode in the coming weeks and months. He only holds nine schools on his offer sheet, as of the morning of Aug. 17. The highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Indiana Hoosiers, TCU, Texas, Minnesota Golden Gophers, Eastern Michigan Eagles, Western Michigan Broncos, New Mexico Lobos, and Texas State Bobcats.

Jackson definitely brings a good amount of value to the table, especially for the lack of national recruiting attention he’s receiving at the moment. He registered 56 catches for 1,342 receiving yards, and 15 touchdown catches during his junior season at Choctaw High School in Oklahoma 6A football.
Moreover, what Texas would be getting out of Jackson if they could flip his commitment from TCU is the nation’s No. 662 2021 high school prospect, No. 106 wide receiver, and No. 12 prospect out of Oklahoma (247Sports Composite). The Top247 ranks him as the No. 55 wide receiver and No. 9 prospect out of Oklahoma.
Texas currently holds 17 commits in their 2021 class. Two of those 17 commits are wide receivers. According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2021 Texas recruiting class ranks at No. 13 in the nation and remains ahead of the rival Oklahoma Sooners for the top spot in the Big 12.
