3) Predicting next commit in the 2022 Texas football recruiting class: Devon Campbell, OT

Here is the perfect opportunity for the Longhorns to make up for missing out on a bevy of top-tier offensive line prospects in their 2021 recruiting class. Offensive line coach/co-offensive coordinator Herb Hand not only missed out on the highly coveted Brockermeyer brothers, they also could miss out on the likes of four-star offensive tackle Savion Byrd. And Texas already lost five-star offensive guard target Donovan Jackson to Ohio State.

Moreover, where the Longhorns could make up for these missed opportunities in the trenches on the recruiting trail for their 2022 class is with the elite five-star Bowie offensive tackle Devon Campbell. The sizable 6-foot-4 and 265 pound native of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex does seem to have some early leanings to landing on the Forty Acres.

Campbell currently holds offers from 25 schools. The highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Alabama Crimson Tide, Oklahoma, LSU, Texas, Georgia, Baylor, Florida State, Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes, Nebraska, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Penn State Nittany Lions, SMU Mustangs, TCU, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M Aggies.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions are giving that aforementioned early edge to Texas to land the commitment of Campbell over the rest of the competition.

He ranks as the nation’s No. 7 2022 high school prospect, top overall offensive tackle, and the No. 2 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). What would be better than the Longhorns landing such a talented offensive tackle that could blocking in front of Ewers for a good portion of his college career.
