2) Texas football players who could breakout vs. Tech: DeMarvion Overshown

The Texas secondary will be their first true test of the fall this coming weekend. While Texas Tech actually didn’t do all that much damage to the Houston Baptist defensive backfield two weeks ago, Texas can’t fall asleep in preparation for talented starting quarterback Alan Bowman and the plethora of skill position weapons he has at his disposal.

Part of the reliance next weekend for the Texas defense to stop the skill position weapons of the Red Raiders will fall on the likes of junior linebacker DeMarvion Overshown and his position-mates with this group.

The 6-foot-4 and 220 pound former converted safety and highly touted four-star recruit Overshown has been a breakout star waiting to happen over the course of the last year.

In his career to date, Overshown registered 23 total tackles, nine tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception, three pass deflections, and one forced fumble. He did all that in just bits and pieces of seven games played over the course of three seasons.

Overshown was big in the season opener for the Longhorns too. He registered four tackles and two tackles for loss in the win over UTEP. Watch out for his star to only continue to rise heading into the second game of the season.
