3) Takeaways from Texas football’s win over Texas Tech: Joshua Moore is a rising star

The biggest contributions to the receiving game for the Longhorns over the course of the first two weeks of the 2020 season came from redshirt sophomore wide receiver Joshua Moore. Who would’ve known that Moore would make this big of an immediate impact coming back from the 2019 season suspension from this team.

In the season opening win over the UTEP Miners at home two weeks ago, Moore registered a team-leading 127 receiving yards on six receptions, with one touchdown catch. He added to that mark this weekend with a second consecutive team-leading mark in receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns.

Moore finished out this game with 73 receiving yards and three touchdown catches. Although, he only had one touchdown catch up until the final three minutes of this game. He would haul in what would be the game-tying touchdown catch, and then the game-winning catch too. Moore and junior wide receiver Brennan Eagles came in very clutch for the Longhorns.

All in all, it looks as if Texas is getting a new star stepping to the forefront in place of the departed superstar wide receiver Devin Duvernay. Moore already has just over 200 receiving yards on the season to go along with a whopping four touchdowns in just two games. He’s on a tremendous pace very early in the regular season, and it could only get better from here.
