2) Next commit in 2021 Texas football recruiting class: Andrew Mukuba

The recruitment of the highly touted, and still somehow underrated it seems, four-star LBJ safety Andrew Mukuba looks to be narrowing down to just two or three schools ahead of his Oct. 1 commitment decision. Mukuba is a hometown product for Herman, Ash, and the Longhorns to try and get committed to their 2021 class.

But competing schools for Mukuba’s commitment like the Clemson Tigers, Oklahoma, and the defending National Champion LSU Tigers could make it tough on the Longhorns. All indications do point to Clemson and Texas being the two schools that the commitment decision comes down to for the Austin, TX, native Mukuba.

Other highlighting schools on Mukuba’s offer sheet includes the Alabama Crimson Tide, Mizzou, Auburn Tigers, Baylor Bears, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ole Miss Rebels, TCU Horned Frogs, Tennessee Volunteers, and Texas Tech. He has nearly three-dozen schools on his lengthy offer sheet ahead of his decision next week.

Mukuba ranks as the nation’s No. 242 2021 high school prospect, No. 13 safety, and No. 43 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). The Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 212 high school prospect, No. 13 safety, and No. 36 prospect out of Texas.

This is a big-time target on the trail for the Longhorns. It’s not like the coaching staff and fan base should panic if they miss out on Mukuba, but it would hurt them in terms of retaining talent hailing out of their own backyard.
