3) Landing spots for Texas football CB Kenyatta Watson II: Georgia Tech

One of the programs that did offer Watson II coming out of the Grayson High School football program in Loganville, GA, was the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. While there were more than 40 schools that sent Watson II scholarship offers coming out of high school, Georgia Tech was one of the late programs to the game.

Georgia Tech offered Watson II more than four months after he had originally committed to Texas. By that point, it did look like Watson II was a lock for the Longhorns on the Early Signing Period. Watson II did wind up signing his National Letter of Intent during the Early Signing Period for the 2019 Texas recruiting class.

The Yellow Jackets could be one of the more intriguing landing spots for a transfer like Watson II. Just like Texas has at times this season, the cornerback position was anything but consistent in Atlanta. Georgia Tech could really use a hometown kid like Watson, that will still have a lot of eligibility left, and might just need a change of scenery.

What Georgia Tech would be getting out of Watson II, if they landed him out of the transfer portal, is a true blue chip that was one of the more talented high school cornerback prospects for the 2019 cycle. He ranked as the nation’s No. 130 2019 high school prospect, No. 16 cornerback, and No. 16 prospect out of Georgia (247Sports Composite).

Landing a commitment from Watson II would be a good way for Georgia Tech to boost their secondary over the long haul.
