Where does Texas football go from here after falling short against the TCU Horned Frogs with Red River on tap for Oct. 10?

The loss for the Texas football program at the hands of the TCU Horned Frogs in their Big 12 home opener did really sting. Texas fell short in the final minutes of the matchup last weekend against TCU, largely thanks to a goal line fumble from junior running back Keaontay Ingram. A fumble from Ingram after a long and potentially game winning drive from Texas was all for naught when he reached the ball out too far and TCU got it.

Texas really needs a big bounce back performance under one of the brighter spotlights they’ll be in this season. But the problem that they’ll possibly run into is that Oklahoma and Texas are both in equally bad spots heading into Red River. Oklahoma comes in with a record of 1-2 (0-2 Big 12). Not only is Oklahoma without a win in Big 12 play, but they don’t even have a win over an FBS opponent as of yet.

Last weekend, that loss for the Longhorns to the Horned Frogs came by the narrow final score of 33-31. That late-game Ingram fumble cost Texas in the end, and an intentional safety from TCU got them the last two points to bring the final score within two points.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma lost two straight to open up their Big 12 slate. In their Big 12 opener, Oklahoma fell short to the Kansas State Wildcats by a one possession margin after a late turnover. And last weekend, the narrative was very similar as the Iowa State Cyclones took care of the Sooners in Ames.

Oklahoma is sure to be motivated heading into this game. It should be a pretty fierce rivalry showdown once again.

Here’s a look into three most problematic Sooners players in the Red River Rivalry game for the Longhorns in a very crucial game next weekend.
