2) Bold predictions for Texas football vs. OU: Sam Ehlinger doesn’t throw any picks

A nearly detrimental pick to Texas’ winning efforts over Texas Tech two weeks ago was a second half pick thrown by senior star quarterback Sam Ehlinger. The pick that Ehlinger tossed one week later in the loss to TCU also didn’t help the Longhorns find too much success in the win column. But those are the only two picks that Ehlinger threw so far this season.

In total through three games, Ehlinger registered 924 passing yards, 14 passing touchdowns, two interceptions, 63.3 completion percentage, 10.2 adjusted yards per passing attempt, 173.2 passer efficiency rating, 130 rushing yards, and one rushing touchdown. He is also averaging nearly five yards per carry this season (the most efficient mark of his career to date).

The problem for Ehlinger in this game will be keeping pace and rhythm with the Oklahoma offense. Texas had a lot of trouble getting in rhythm when they needed to in the second half during the last two weeks. Whether it be newly hired offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich having some growing pains, or another problem with this offense, something has to give soon.

Expect Ehlinger to show out in what might be his last Red River Rivalry game in its true form. He has the opportunity to return for the Longhorns next season, but there’s definitely no guarantee that will happen. In a final shot for Ehlinger with Texas in Red River, he’s likely to leave it all out on the field this weekend.
