3) Texas football recruiting targets to replace Bowman Jr.: JJ Henry

One of the positions that Bowman Jr. could’ve played at for the Longhorns (and still very well could if he gives his commitment back to Texas) is at wide receiver. So if Texas wanted him to play at wide receiver and wants to add another piece at the position in their 2021 recruiting class, there’s a few ways they can turn.

A good option with an under-the-radar 2021 high school prospect could be further prioritizing the 5-foot-10 and and 165 pound McKinney North wide receiver JJ Henry. This agile wideout hailing out of McKinney, TX, is gaining some steam of late with more Big 12 programs. He currently holds offers from nearly two dozen schools, as of the morning of Oct. 12.

The highlighting schools on Henry’s offer sheet (outside of Texas) includes the Baylor Bears, Arkansas Razorbacks, Ole Miss Rebels, Florida State Seminoles, TCU Horned Frogs, Texas A&M, Colorado Buffaloes, Indiana Hoosiers, Minnesota, SMU Mustangs, Utah Utes, Wyoming Cowboys, and Louisville Cardinals. Texas is one of the last three schools to send Henry a scholarship offer (which came back on May 25, 2020), along with Minnesota and Indiana.

Henry ranks as the nation’s No. 561 2021 high school prospect, No. 90 wide receiver, and No. 80 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 88 wide receiver and No. 88 prospect out of Texas. He’s a very versatile skill position talent, and his growing offer sheet proves the talent level and potential that he brings to the table.
