2) Texas football DB transfer targets to replace Kenyatta Watson: Christian Williams

Turning to another big time program out of the state of Florida where the Longhorns could potentially look for cornerback help, there is one target that really sticks out from the Miami Hurricanes football program. One of Miami’s top defensive back commits in their 2019 class, sophomore cornerback Christian Williams, is a very good low key target for the Longhorns to add out of the transfer portal.

It sounds like a seamless fit for the Longhorns to pursue another promising and talented four-star cornerback recruit from the southeastern United States that stems from the same recruiting class as Watson II. Williams is a former four-star cornerback recruit that hails out of Daphne High School in Daphne, AL. He ranked as the nation’s No. 160 2019 high school prospect, No. 20 cornerback, and No. 7 prospect out of Alabama (247Sports Composite).

Williams and Watson II even have similar statures and stat lines from their first two years in college. Watson II registered six total tackles and one pass deflection during his time on the Forty Acres. Meanwhile, the 6-foot-1 and 195 pound Williams registered five total tackles and one pass deflection in five games played during his time with the Canes.

During his five games played with the Canes, Williams was targeted on three occasions, giving up two receptions for 25 yards and no touchdowns. That other passing attempt on him resulted in a pass breakup.

If the Longhorns want to go the easy route of replacing a lot of what they had in Watson II in the defensive backfield, Williams is about as close as they could get out of the transfer portal.
