Which four Texas football players have disappointed to start the season, but have a bye week coming around at the right time this week?

There’s no one player that can be faulted for all of the struggles that the Texas football program has gone through in the 2020 season so far. Individual instances do exist that are tough to deal with for Texas, like junior running back Keaontay Ingram fumbling on the goal line in the loss to the TCU Horned Frogs and all of the blocked punts from junior punter Ryan Bujcevski, but there’s plenty of blame to go around for multiple players and coaches on this team.

Texas now holds a record of 2-2 (1-2 Big 12) after falling agonizingly short of the Oklahoma Sooners on Oct. 10 in the annual Red River Rivalry game. Oklahoma topped Texas in Red River last weekend by the final score of 53-45 after a frantic four overtimes and a crazy fourth quarter comeback from the boys in burnt orange.

Oklahoma was about a field goal favorite heading into the rivalry matchup with the Longhorns last weekend, but there were multiple instances in that game where head coach Tom Herman could’ve seen his team take control. But that is a constant theme of the season to date. Texas can’t take control of games when the door is wide open to do so against teams they should be beating.

Not to say that Oklahoma was supposed to be a cake walk for the Longhorns, but the Sooners did make a ton of mistakes throughout the game that Texas was not able to take advantage of. The same could be said for the loss to TCU in the Big 12 home opener back on Oct. 3, and the near upset road loss in the Big 12 opener against the Texas Tech Red Raiders back on Sep. 26.

With that in mind, there are still a few Longhorns players that need to pick up their play coming out of the bye week when they take on the Baylor Bears on Oct. 24 at home. Here’s a look at the four most disappointing players for Texas through four games this season.
