Texas Football: 3 bold predictions in must-win vs. Baylor
1) Bold predictions for Texas football vs. Baylor: Sam Ehlinger goes over 400 total yards, with no turnovers
This will be a really difficult feat for Ehlinger and the Longhorns to amass more than 400 total yards for him, with no turnovers in the process. But if the offense was able to muster enough support to help Ehlinger reach these marks, it would be really difficult for them not to pull away from Baylor come tomorrow afternoon.
So far this season, Ehlinger registered an FBS-leading 21 total touchdowns to go along with 1,211 passing yards, four interceptions, 61.1 completion percentage, 8.3 adjusted yards per passing attempt, and a 151.6 passer efficiency rating. He’ll need to minimize the bad passes and mistakes (hence the picks) come this weekend’s matchup with Baylor.
What will make it so difficult for Ehlinger to get over 400 total yards (despite a nice stat line so far this season) against Baylor tomorrow will be the fact that Brewer tends to manage the clock well and the offensive line hasn’t been great in front of him. The receiving corps also needs to minimize the drops this weekend. Texas had more than five drops in the last two games combined.
Ehlinger will need the likes of redshirt sophomore wide receiver Joshua Moore, junior Brennan Eagles, and Smith out of the slot, to step up in this game. Texas can’t have as many missed routes, missed blocks, and drops as they had the last couple of games. Preventing bad penalties will also be one of the biggest keys to victory in this game for the Longhorns.
