Texas Basketball: 3 most critical games of 2020-21 regular season
2) Most critical games for Texas basketball in 2020-21
The Kansas Jayhawks are always going to be both one of the most critical matchups on the Big 12 schedule for the Longhorns, and one of the most difficult. That is going to be no exception this coming season, as Kansas carries a top-10 caliber team yet again under longtime head coach Bill Self into the 2020-21 season.
The highlighting forces for the Jayhawks this season will be the likes of senior guard/wing and Dallas, TX, native Marcus Garrett and junior guard Ochai Agbaji. According to Barttorvik projections for Kansas‘ 2020-21 season, Ogbaji is set to lead the way for the Jayhawks with just over 13 points per game, around five rebounds, and two assists.
In what will be the last regular season meeting of the 2020-21 campaign between Texas and Kansas, the former of the two teams will see their backcourt rotation have their hands full. The likes of Coleman and junior combo guard Courtney Ramey will need to have one of their best cumulus efforts of the season to have a chance against the Jayhawks.
But with the likes of Udoka Azubuike and Devon Dotson gone for the Jayhawks heading into the 2020-21 season, there could be a real chance for the Longhorns to hop on this team at home in Austin. If the Longhorns could pull off an upset like this one game away from the regular season finale, they could bolster their NCAA Tournament in ways that they really can’t at any other portion of the campaign.
