2) Problematic Pokes for Texas football: Chuba Hubbard

The most notable name on the entire Oklahoma State roster is a player that finished in the top eight in the Heisman voting last year, and a former 2,000-yard rusher, redshirt junior Canadian running back Chuba Hubbard. Although he got off to a slow start this season, Hubbard has really picked things up in the last two games.

He’s now registered 478 rushing yards on 94 carries through four games (5.1 yards per carry), good for five rushing touchdowns. That’s not near the mark that Hubbard had through five games last season. Last year, Hubbard registered just shy of 2,300 total yards from scrimmage (2,094 of which were rushing), for 21 rushing scores.

Texas actually did a pretty good job containing Hubbard last year, under 150 rushing yards and pretty well under four yards per carry. That’s about all most defenses can ask for facing a running back as good and potent as Hubbard. He is the type of running back that can break free for a home run play any time he touches the ball.

In his two tries against the Longhorns, Hubbard registered 201 rushing yards on a whopping 46 attempts (4.4 yards per carry), good for two rushing scores. Another thing to watch from the Oklahoma State ground game, beyond just stopping Hubbard, is trying to contain running back LD Brown and quarterback Spencer Sanders.
