1) OK State QB’s that torched Texas football: Brandon Weeden

And we’ve finally arrived at the most notable and recognizable former Oklahoma State quarterback on this list that found some success at some point against this Longhorns defense. This ex-Pokes star signal caller Brandon Weeden played in Stillwater after he tried his hand in the minor league organization of the New York Yankees throughout the 2000’s.

Weeden also formed one of the most potent quarterback-wide receiver combinations in recent memory in the entire college football landscape with former superstar wideout Justin Blackmon. Those two put together quite the run for Oklahoma State that nearly ended in an appearance in a BCS National Championship Game in 2011.

In 2010, Weeden didn’t put up the biggest number of passing touchdowns that you’d ever see against the Longhorns. But he did put up big numbers in about every other statistical category for a quarterback and did all he needed for the Oklahoma State offense to torch the Texas defense. He registered 409 passing yards, one passing score, and one pick, in a 33-16 win for the Pokes over the Horns.

The 2011 showdown between Oklahoma State and Texas, while it worked out well for the Pokes, actually didn’t see Weeden put up a huge stat line. It was very impressive for the Longhorns to hold Weeden to just over 200 passing yards and one passing touchdown in that game in 2011. If not for a big game from the running back combination of Jeremy Smith and Joseph Randle (combined for more than 215 rushing yards and three rushing scores), Texas played well enough in the secondary to give their run defense and offense a shot at the big upset.
