Texas Football: 3 2022 QB prospects to replace Quinn Ewers
2) 2022 Texas football QB targets to replace Ewers: Conner Weigman
Once again, the Longhorns can turn to a prospect on this list that is in-state and still would have a realistic shot of landing on the Forty Acres if they jump on offering him in the very near future. And there might actually be a better shot for the Longhorns to get a commitment out of the talented four-star Bridgeland dual-threat quarterback Conner Weigman than there would Klubnik.
Weigman doesn’t have as much big-time film from his playing days on the gridiron in high school as Klubnik. And the exposure that Klubnik has is much more public to Longhorns fans, since he plays his high school ball in Austin, than Weigman. But the latter of the two is a really intriguing fit with Texas.
This 6-foot-1 and 205 pound elusive product hailing out of Cypress, TX, has a strong arm and fits a profile similar to that of redshirt sophomore Texas quarterback Casey Thompson. He’s a bit faster and more accurate than Thompson was originally coming out of high school, but there is a valid comparison here.
Weigman ranks as the nation’s No. 130 2022 high school prospect, No. 7 dual-threat quarterback, and No. 20 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 78 high school prospect, No. 4 dual-threat quarterback, and No. 14 prospect out of Texas.
At this point, Weigman holds offers from just over a dozen schools. Other highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Houston Cougars, Arkansas, Baylor, Michigan State, Mizzou Tigers, Minnesota Golden Gophers, Ole Miss Rebels, SMU Mustangs, Utah Utes, and Virginia Tech Hokies.
