3) Overreactions from Texas football’s win over WVU: Bijan Robinson will be the best RB in the Big 12

The running game has been anything but consistent for the Longhorns so far this season. The likes of sophomore running back Roschon Johnson and true freshman former five-star recruit Bijan Robinson did step up in last weekend’s overtime win over Oklahoma State. There were still questions coming into the West Virginia game, though.

But one of those two running backs was much more efficient than the other for the Longhorns in the win over the Mountaineers. Robinson was the leading rusher for both Texas and West Virginia in this game. He registered 113 rushing yards on 12 carries, although he had no rushing touchdowns, to go along with 38 receiving yards on two catches.

Robinson had three rushes of more than 10 yards, and averaged just south of 10 yards per carry. He also had the big spark play on the Longhorns first drive, with a run of more than 50 yards. And he essentially put the game on ice for Texas on the final drive on a 35 yard catch to get the final first down for this offense.

Herman and first-year offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich are starting to give Robinson a bigger workload out of the backfield. It seems like that is something that the coaching staff should’ve done a long time ago. The writing is on the wall that Robinson could easily become one of the premier running backs in the Big 12 in the very near future.
