1) Texas basketball players to watch for 2021 draft

Definitely the most promising and potent 2021 NBA Draft prospect on the Longhorns current roster heading into the 2020-21 season is the incoming freshman former five-star recruit and the uber-talented power forward Greg Brown. At least as it pertains to his draft stock coming onto the Forty Acres, there was no more hyped up prospect for Texas than Brown since Mo Bamba.

The 6-foot-9 and 205 pound elite Austin, TX, native Brown is likely to see his role grow from the outset of the 2020-21 season. A lot of his draft stock out of the gates will depend on how much playing time he gets under Smart in the frontcourt rotation. Texas still has plenty of minutes on the floor to go around among their big men, including Sims, sophomore Kai Jones, junior Kamaka Hepa, junior Gerald Liddell, and Baker, among a number of others.

Brown ranked as the nation’s No. 9 2020 high school prospect, No. 2 power forward, and the top overall prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranked him as the nation’s No. 11 high school prospect, No. 2 power forward, and top overall prospect out of Texas. He held a similar spot in the recruiting rankings in the last cycle alongside the likes of Gonzaga guard Jalen Suggs, Kentucky guard Terrence Clarke, and Florida State forward Scottie Barnes.

Expected to fall as a mid-level lottery pick as it stands now for the 2021 NBA Draft, Brown is going to have a very high bar to meet during his freshman campaign with the Longhorns. His insane physical tools, rebounding ability, stretch shooting, and facilitating/ball handling from within the two-point arc, make him a very special forward.
