1) Texas football flips from Baylor

Actually what is the least confusing recruiting saga to date of any of the former Baylor flips on this list for the Longhorns is the most recent commit to the 2021 class, the four-star defensive tackle prospect Murphy II. Texas flipped the commitment of Murphy II to inch one step closer to getting 20 prospects in their 2021 class a little less than one month ahead of the Early Signing Period, on the morning of Nov. 18.

What Texas is getting out of Murphy II is the nation’s No. 391 2021 high school prospect, No. 24 defensive tackle, and No. 56 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 (which just gave Murphy II his coveted fourth star in their latest update) slots him as the No. 21 defensive tackle and No. 46 prospect out of Texas.

Murphy II chose to flip his commitment from Baylor to Texas this week despite having offers from more than 16 other schools. The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Georgia Bulldogs, Colorado Buffaloes, Houston Cougars, Iowa State Cyclones, Memphis Tigers, Minnesota Golden Gophers, Mississippi State Bulldogs, SMU Mustangs, TCU Horned Frogs, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Washington State Cougars, and Utah Utes.

As the first true defensive tackle commit in the Longhorns 2021 class, getting Murphy II to flip from Baylor to Texas was a massive get for both Ash and first-year defensive line coach Mark Hagen. Texas at least looks good in the trenches now in their 2021 class, to replenish some talent that could be lost to the NFL Draft next year.
