1) Rising 2021 Texas football targets

Among the most severely underrated linebacker prospects in the nation for this recruiting cycle, not just among the Texas targets and offers, is the four-star John Ehret inside linebacker Andrew Jones. This 6-foot and 200 pound linebacker product hailing out of Marrero, LA, had a wild ride with the Memphis Tigers throughout his recruitment in the last six or eight months.

Jones originally gave his commitment to Memphis back on June 18, 2020. And while he didn’t receive any offers since committing to Memphis back during the summer months, he reopened his recruitment earlier this week. More specifically, Jones decommitted from Memphis back on Nov. 17.

The most recent offers that Jones received came from Wazzu and Utah, back in late May.

The 247Sports recruiting profile for Jones even has him projected as a future late round pick in the NFL Draft. That’s high marks for a prospect that mostly had just Group of Five schools on his offer sheet throughout the early stages of his recruitment.

As of the afternoon of Nov. 20, Jones held offers from just over 20 schools. The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Georgia Bulldogs, Florida State Seminoles, Arizona Wildcats, Houston Cougars, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Louisville, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, and SMU.

Moreover, Jones ranks as the nation’s No. 538 2021 high school prospect, No. 22 inside linebacker, and No. 16 prospect out of Louisiana (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 12 inside linebacker, and No. 11 prospect out of Louisiana.
