2) Early Texas football DB transfer targets

The aforementioned early top transfer target for the Longhorns coaching staff, Alexander, is just going to be one of the more highly sought after commodities in the portal entering next offseason across the entire college football landscape. Alexander has multiple schools after him already beyond Texas, mostly out of the Power Five conferences.

Alexander was one of the more impactful sit outs for the 2020 season in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. He passed on playing this season and then promptly put his name in the transfer portal.

Moreover, Alexander was one of the gem finds for Kansas State in their 2019 recruiting class. He was an unheralded three-star safety recruit hailing out of Kilgore Junior College in Fort Worth, TX. Alexander held offers from just four FBS schools. The three outside of Kansas State were the Old Dominion Monarchs, UTEP Miners, and Texas State Bobcats. Obviously this was a good find for the Wildcats.

Coming out of Kilgore J.C., Alexander ranked as the nation’s No. 231 JUCO prospect, No. 11 safety, and No. 15 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranked him as the No. 16 JUCO safety and No. 19 prospect out of Texas.

Alexander had a very solid first year playing in the Kansas State secondary last season. He registered 25 combined tackles (19 solo and six assisted), four tackles for loss, one sack, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery (which he returned for a touchdown), in 11 games played in 2019. Picking up Alexander out of the transfer portal would clearly make an immediate impact for Texas next season.
