1) Early Texas football DB transfer targets

This name on the list of potential transfer targets for the Longhorns to bolster the defensive backfield out of the portal for next offseason is one where the coaching staff would have to proceed with caution. The former UCF Knights standout senior cornerback Antwan Collier put his name in the transfer portal earlier this month after he was reportedly (per Orlando Sentinel) arrested earlier in the year.

If there isn’t any outstanding legal trouble that would hold up the process of Collier transferring elsewhere and the Longhorns coaching staff has the appropriate comfort level to pursue him out of the portal when the time is right, then it’s worth looking into. Collier would be one of the most highly sought after DB’s in the transfer portal if not for the off-the-field issues. Granted he might not be in the transfer portal right now if not for those issues.

The 6-foot-3 and 195 pound lengthy and athletic former UCF cornerback was set to have a huge senior campaign if not for running into these problems of late. Coming into the 2020 season, he was one of the most proven and touted defensive backs in the entirety of the American Athletic Conference.

In 38 career games played during his four years with UCF, Collier was really productive. He registered 150 career combined tackles, eight tackles for loss, one sack, six interceptions, 11 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries. Before landing in the portal this year, Collier registered 22 combined tackles (18 solo and four assisted), one tackle for loss, four pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
