3) Texas football OL who must step up

One true freshman offensive lineman that might get tossed into the fire out of nowhere in the very near future for the Longhorns is the sizable 6-foot-4 and 295 pound offensive tackle Andrej Karic. There’s not much experience or viable ready options that Texas has at the left tackle position, hence why Karic is on this list in the first place.

When Cosmi was tossed into the fire at offensive tackle, he was just a true freshman. And look how that turned out. Maybe giving Karic a shot in the spotlight against the Kansas schools, and potentially in the postseason, isn’t the worst idea. He came out of high school pretty polished and ready to handle a bigger workload than most players of his age and experience level.

Coming out of Southlake Carroll High School in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Karic was one of the more underrated blue chip four-star recruits in the Longhorns 2020 recruiting class. Karic ranked as the nation’s No. 364 2020 high school prospect, No. 26 offensive tackle, and No. 53 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite).

And the Top247 ranked Karic as the No. 21 offensive tackle and No. 36 prospect out of Texas.

Karic did get on the field earlier in this season, for just 19 total snaps on offense. All 19 of those snaps came in the Longhorns dominant season opening win at home over the UTEP Miners. He didn’t allow any pressures and/or sacks, commit any penalties, and was solid in six run blocking plays, in that win over UTEP.

If Karic does get the next start at left tackle, he could be a nice fit right away.
