2) Problematic Wildcats for Texas football

Definitely the most potent skill position player for Kansas State this weekend will be the rising star true freshman former unheralded three-star recruit and the 5-foot-5 and 170 pound running back Deuce Vaughn. This insanely elusive first-year rusher is the perfect example of the Kansas State coaching staff finding value in a largely undervalued and under-recruited skill position player.

Vaughn is very elusive and difficult to bring down in the open field. And don’t let his size and inexperience fool you, he’s a very versatile back. He can make a big impact in the blocking and receiving game. He’s proven right out of the gates that he will be a load to deal with in the Big 12 for a long time to come.

Moreover, Vaughn was sensational for Kansas State in the nine games he’s played in so far this season. He’s registered 527 rushing yards (4.7 yards per carry), five rushing touchdowns, 389 receiving yards (a whopping 18.5 yards per catch), and two touchdown catches. He’s very close to eclipsing the 1,000 total yards mark, and very well could this weekend against this Texas defense.

With junior standout safety and former five-star recruit Caden Sterns opting out of the rest of the season, Texas will be missing a key part of their secondary that could also hurt them in dealing with Vaughn. The likes of junior linebackers Joseph Ossai, Juwan Mitchell, and DeMarvion Overshown will have to step up in the wake of his absence. Someone like senior safety Chris Brown and/or junior B.J. Foster will also have to step up to replace Sterns’ production.
