Texas Football: B.J. Foster, Jalen Green out vs. K-State with injuries
The secondary depth is going to be scary thin for Texas football on Dec. 5 against Kansas State, now down CB Jalen Green and S B.J. Foster.
The latest round of injury updates for the Texas football program ahead of the matchup on the road on Dec. 5 against the Kansas State Wildcats rolled in mid-morning. Fourth-year Texas head coach Tom Herman already got bad news in the wake of a number of opt outs in the week leading up to this kick off against head coach Chris Klieman and his Wildcats team.
The opt outs included the likes of standout junior safety Caden Sterns, junior running back Keaontay Ingram, and redshirt junior offensive tackle Sam Cosmi. Sterns and Cosmi look to be opting out of the rest of the season to prepare for the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft, and Ingram could wind up landing in the NCAA Transfer Portal heading into next offseason.
Meanwhile, there was even more bad news that arrived in the way of late injury updates for Herman and the Longhorns on the morning of Dec. 5. Texas will reportedly be without the likes of junior defensive back B.J. Foster and junior cornerback Jalen Green against Kansas State this weekend.
Foster reportedly suffered a hamstring injury in practice in the week leading up to this game. He was anticipated to help replace Sterns in that starting safety spot next to senior Chris Brown. What Texas will now be missing since Foster is out in this game is 36 combined tackles, one tackle for loss, and three pass breakups.
Moreover, Green is dealing with an ankle injury that he suffered in Texas’ loss last week on Black Friday/Senior at the hands of the No. 13 ranked Iowa State Cyclones, by the final score of 23-20. What Texas is missing now that Green is out for this game is 12 combined tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception, and two pass breakups.
Texas enters the Kansas State game with a record of 5-3 (4-3 Big 12), coming off that loss to Iowa State that snapped their three-game winning streak that started back on Oct. 24 in a home win over the Baylor Bears. Meanwhile, Kansas State comes into this game with a record of 4-5 (4-4 Big 12), coming off a tough one-point loss to Baylor.
