2) Texas basketball bold predictions in Big 12 play

Texas shuts down Jalen Wilson and Cade Cunningham to get three wins over KU and OK State

The Big 12 is more star studded almost across the board this season with upperclassmen than with any potential one-and-done players. But two likely one-and-done’s (kind of) that are standing out around the Big 12 right now are the Oklahoma State star freshman point guard Cade Cunningham and the Kansas Jayhawks redshirt freshman forward Jalen Wilson.

There’s a good chance that, if Wilson keeps up his current level of play for head coach Bill Self and the Jayhawks, that he will project out as a first round pick for the 2021 NBA Draft. And Cunningham is surely going to be one of the most highly anticipated prospects for the 2021 NBA Draft, widely considered the top overall prospect in this class.

Cunningham is actually the Big 12’s scoring leader (at just over 18 points per game) early in this season. Wilson isn’t too far behind him either.

Wilson and Cunningham are largely driving forces to each of their team’s success out of the gates this season. Kansas does have one loss on the season so far, but they still rank well inside the top 10 in both the AP Poll and Coaches Poll. Oklahoma State is on the bring of cracking both major polls for the first time this season after they got off to an undefeated start, including wins over the Wichita State Shockers and Marquette Golden Eagles.

Nonetheless, the Longhorns do have the capable players in their rotation to compete with, and likely beat, both Oklahoma State and Kansas at least one time each this season. If Texas prepares well for, and comes out with their best play against Cunningham and Wilson, then it’s not out of the question that they could pull out three wins combined between their four games against Oklahoma State and Kansas.
