Texas Football: 3 must have 2021 commits ahead of Early Signing Period
2) Must have 2021 Texas football commits before ESP
The way that things are trending right now for Herman and the Longhorns in the pursuit of the sizable 6-foot-4 and 205 pound four-star Kosciousko wide receiver Antonio Harmon are not looking good for them. Head coach Mike Leach and the Mississippi State Bulldogs are doing their best to win over the interests of their big-time in-state wide receiver target.
Harmon is the highest rated wide receiver target at this point that remains uncommitted heading into the Early Signing Period. But the entirety of the expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions have Harmon’s commitment trending to land with Mississippi State over Texas and the rest of the field.
There’s a chance that Texas can try and pry the commitment of the talented four-star Aledo wide receiver JoJo Earle away from head coach Ed Orgeron and LSU. But that’s not something that Texas wide receivers coach Andre Coleman and Herman should bank on at this point in time.
Moreover, Harmon ranks as the nation’s No. 298 2021 high school prospect, No. 49 wide receiver, and No. 5 prospect out of Mississippi (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 89 wide receiver and No. 9 prospect out of Mississippi.
As of the morning of Dec. 15, Harmon holds just 11 schools on his surprisingly slim offer sheet. The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Ole Miss Rebels, Georgia, LSU, Oregon Ducks, SMU Mustangs, Virginia Cavaliers, and Louisville Cardinals.
If Texas doesn’t wind up landing the commitment of Harmon before National Signing Day next February (or during the Early Signing Period later this week), then the contingency has to be the elusive three-star Rudder wide receiver Keithron Lee.
