Texas Football: 3 remaining 2021 QB targets after Early Signing Period
3) Remaining 2021 Texas football QB targets
Blue chip prospects aren’t really any sort of abundant on the open market right now for the remaining part of the 2021 recruiting cycle at the quarterback position after the Early Signing Period. With this in mind, a decently highly touted three-star signal caller is about the best that Herman and the Longhorns can do at this point in time.
If Texas does decide to turn to in-state talent to find the answer they’re looking for at the quarterback position in the 2021 class, then a target like this first name up on the list could be solid. Three-star Duncanville 6-foot-1 and 200 pound pro-style quarterback Grayson James could be a really nice fit for Texas if he’s able to breakthrough early in his college career.
James was actually the next starting quarterback in line for Duncanville High School after Ja’Quinden Jackson graduated last year. James currently holds offers 11 different schools, and the Longhorns are not one of them. Extending James an offer would obviously be a good first step if the Longhorns want to bring him into the mix.
The other highlighting schools on James’ offer sheet includes the Central Michigan Chippewas, Liberty Flames, San Jose State Spartans, Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks, Texas State Bobcats, UAB Blazers, and the FCS William & Mary Tribe.
James ranks as the nation’s No. 1,076 2021 high school prospect, No. 37 pro-style quarterback, and No. 157 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top 247 ranks him as the No. 35 pro-style quarterback and No. 170 prospect out of Texas.
