Texas Football: 2021 class gets big WR commit with 3-Star Keithron Lee
The latest addition to the 2021 Texas football recruiting class comes at a position of need with three-star Rudder wideout commit Keithron Lee.
A really nice Christmas gift was delivered to fourth-year head coach Tom Herman and first-year wide receivers coach Andre Coleman in the 2021 Texas football recruiting class on the morning of Dec. 25. Texas got a commitment from the under-the-radar three-star Rudder 5-foot-10 and 175 pound elusive wide receiver Keithron Lee in a special Christmas Day announcement.
This was quite the way to head into the holiday weekend for the Longhorns, to actually get some rare good news (in some tough times on the trail of late for Herman and his staff) for their 2021 recruiting class. Texas got their first addition to their 2021 class since the first day of the Early Signing Period, where they landed three-star Holy Cross strong-side defensive end Barryn Sorrell.
The news of Herman and the Longhorns landing a commitment from the former UTSA Roadrunners commit hailing out of Bryan, TX, came public on Lee’s Twitter timeline on the morning of Dec. 25. It was met with a very positive and raucous reaction from the Longhorns fan base.

Lee originally committed to UTSA back on April 24, 2020. But once more Power Five attention started come his way on a national level, he would decommit less than six months later (specifically on Sep. 15). Since his decommitment from UTSA roughly three and a half months back, he’s received multiple notable scholarship offers.
He ultimately wound up committing to Texas on Christmas morning over offers from more than 25 other schools. The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet included the Arizona State Sun Devils, Baylor Bears, Colorado State Rams, East Carolina Pirates, Ole Miss Rebels, Pitt Panthers, SMU Mustangs, TCU Horned Frogs, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Utah Utes, and Washington Huskies.
What Texas is getting out of Lee is the nation’s No. 536 2021 high school prospect, No. 86 wide receiver, and No. 76 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 97 wide receiver and No. 98 prospect out of Texas.
Lee brings a pretty unique and versatile skill set to the table that the Longhorns don’t really have at the skill positions in their 2021 class at the moment. He’s played at running back, wide receiver, and defensive back, for Rudder High School in his career to date. Lee is the type of receiver that can get the ball almost anywhere within the close to the line of scrimmage to the first down marker and make multiple tacklers miss in the open field on any play.
In his senior season at Rudder, Lee registered 554 rushing yards on 61 attempts, good for nine rushing scores. He also amassed 1,139 receiving yards on 65 catches, good for 16 receiving touchdowns. In his high school career to date, he’s registered 1,157 rushing yards on 138 attempts, good for 17 scores on the ground. And he added 125 career receptions for 2,322 receiving yards, and 32 receiving touchdowns.
Lee is a nice addition to the Longhorns 2021 class to help form a dynamic trio. Texas also has three-star Warren Easton product Casey Cain and three-star Monarch product Jaden Alexis committed and signed at the wide receiver position in their 2021 class.
According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2021 Texas recruiting class holds steady at No. 17 in the nation and remains in the second spot in the Big 12 behind the Oklahoma Sooners. They are now up to 18 signees in the 2021 class, and two unsigned commits. The two remaining unsigned commits (although that could change soon) are Lee and four-star Kimball cornerback Ishmael Ibraheem.
The highest rated signee in the Longhorns 2021 class as of the afternoon of Dec. 25 is the elite Denton-Ryan five-star athlete Ja’Tavion Sanders. Lee joins this trio of wide receivers as the second highest rated commit in this class at the position.
