To round out the topsy turvy 2020 season, the Texas football program faces the Colorado Buffaloes in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29.

Kick off for the Alamo Bowl is just one day away for No. 20 ranked Texas football and fourth-year head coach Tom Herman. On Dec. 29 in San Antonio, Texas will kick off against their former Big 12 foe, the Colorado Buffaloes and first-year head coach Karl Dorrell, to try and get their seventh win of the season.

Herman and the Longhorns come into the Alamo Bowl with a record of 6-3 (5-3 Big 12), ending their regular season slate winning four of their final five games. Their last game resulted in a 69-31 dismantling of the Kansas State Wildcats on the road back on Dec. 5. The last loss for Texas came back on Nov. 27 (Black Friday/Senior Day) at home against the Big 12 runner up Iowa State Cyclones.

Moreover, Colorado comes into the Alamo Bowl with a record of 4-1 (3-1 PAC-12). Their last game resulted in a tough 38-21 loss at the hands of the Utah Utes back on Dec. 12 in the Rumble in the Rockies. Colorado won their first four games of the season, and fell just short of making an appearance in the PAC-12 Championship Game with that loss to Utah two weeks ago.

Texas is down to an eight-point favorite over the Buffs a little more than 24 hours ahead of kick off. And the ESPN matchup predictor (built from the Football Power Index) gives Texas a 79.9 percent chance to win the Alamo Bowl.

The betting line for this game is narrowing due to the plethora of opt outs and injuries that Texas is facing ahead of the Alamo Bowl. There’s going to have to be some younger players and new faces that step up in this game. Here’s a look into three freshmen for the Longhorns that could breakout in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29.
