3) Why Texas football will dominate Colorado

Tom Herman’s postseason track record

There’s multiple reasons why Longhorns fans should expect Herman to have his team up for the Alamo Bowl this week. One major factor is the postseason track record that Herman brings to the table in his three previous tries with the Longhorns. He’s undefeated in those aforementioned three postseason games during his time as Texas head coach.

His most impressive postseason victory as Texas head coach came to round out the special 2018 season, when the Longhorns knocked off the No. 5 ranked Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl by a one-touchdown margin. Texas followed that up with a nice win over then No. 11 ranked Utah in the Alamo Bowl last year, by the dominant final score of 38-10.

Texas even got a solid bowl win in their first season under Herman’s direction. Then sophomore quarterback Shane Buechele helped the Longhorns get a Texas Bowl win over former star quarterback Drew Lock and the Mizzou Tigers to round out the 2017 season.

Herman also tends to do really well with his back up against the wall. And that rang true this fall when the Longhorns upset the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the road in Stillwater by on Oct. 31 in overtime. That largely helped to save his job for the rest of the year.

The combination of Herman’s postseason success as Texas head coach and how well his teams play when his back is up against the wall could make for a big game against Colorado in the Alamo Bowl this week.
