4) Takeaways from Texas football’s win over Colorado

Bijan Robinson continues to dominate

It’s hard to overstate the amount of dominance that the former highly coveted five-star recruit and true freshman star running back Bijan Robinson put on display in the last two games. Robinson was the mainstay at running back in Texas’ Dec. 5 dominant win over Kansas State, and he did the same against what looked to be an improved Colorado front seven.

Coming into the Alamo Bowl, it was anticipated that a lot of the workload out of the backfield would be split between Robinson and sophomore running back Roschon Johnson. But it was Robinson that took the reigns for the Longhorns in this game, and never looked back. Johnson did have a nice run at the end of the game, but this was Robinson’s show for the taking.

Robinson led the way out of the gates for the Longhorns. He registered a whopping 183 rushing yards on 10 carries (18.3 yards per carry), with one rushing touchdown. And he also added 37 receiving yards on two catches, with two touchdown catches. It took Robinson until the de facto regular season finale to get his first career rushing touchdown.

He’s now got six combined touchdowns in the last two games alone.

Johnson didn’t have to do much in this game. He wound up registering 32 rushing yards on 10 carries, with one late rushing score. His production on the ground wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t much needed given how well Robinson played. It was great to see Robinson just absolutely shred the Colorado defense on this night.
