What positive results could come in the immediate future for the 2021 Texas football recruiting class after the hire of Steve Sarkisian?

The news that dropped in the late morning of Jan. 2 that shook both the college football world and the Big 12 landscape in particular came with the firing of fourth-year head coach Tom Herman, and the naming of who his successor could be. Current Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian could soon be serving as the next head coach of the Texas football program.

And it will be up to Sarkisian to try and take this Longhorns program to new heights. A lot of that very tall task for Sark could start on the recruiting trail, where he will be hit with a number of immediate challenges. Herman didn’t pull together the greatest 2021 recruiting class through the end of the Early Signing Period last month.

Texas is also going to still face a lot of challenges on the recruiting trail for their 2022 class that was hit hard in recent months. Herman had a really nice foundation built for the 2022 class when he landed a commitment from the elite in-state quarterback prospect Quinn Ewers back in August.

But Texas wound up seeing the pledge of Ewers flip to the Ohio State Buckeyes not too long after he originally committed back in the late summer.

And according to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2021 Texas recruiting class ranks at No. 17 in the nation and holds steady in the second spot in the Big 12 behind the Oklahoma Sooners. Texas currently has signed 18 prospects in their 2021 class, and have two more committed at the moment.

But it will be up to Sark to continue to shape the final pieces of the 2021 class ahead of National Signing Day next month. Here’s a look at three commits that Sark could potentially flip from Alabama’s 2021 class since he will be Texas’ next head coach in 2021.
