An important step in the NFL Draft scouting process for the likes of the former star senior Texas football quarterback Sam Ehlinger has arrived during the week of Senior Bowl practice. While the Senior Bowl is about to come to a head this weekend, when the actual game takes place on Jan. 30 in Mobile, AL, the week of practice is huge for prospective draft prospects such as Ehlinger.

As one of the more enthralling quarterback prospects in this class, Ehlinger had to impress had this week of Senior Bowl practice. And it looks like he did just that as the former Longhorn put together a good week of drills in Mobile.

NFL Draft expert Matt Miller had a pretty rave review of how Ehlinger looked in Senior Bowl practice this week in a post on his Twitter timeline on the afternoon of Jan. 26.

Here’s more on what Miller noted to both those following the NFL Draft scouting process in the Senior Bowl this week, and to Longhorns fans in particular.

"Ehlinger’s reworked delivery is noticeable. It’s a touch more deliberate at times but he made a few really nice throws including one over the top on the right sideline that was a pretty bucket throw. One practice in but positive signs."

Miller also noted that Ehlinger stayed after earlier this week in Senior Bowl practice to take snaps with the former Oklahoma Sooners standout center Creed Humphrey. That should do nothing but help Ehlinger’s stock in the eyes of NFL Draft scouts.

Ehlinger will join a teammate of his from his Longhorns days, in former senior defensive end Ta’Quon Graham, in the Senior Bowl on the National Team this weekend. He put some good film on this week in practice too. It was a good week for Longhorns fans to follow some former standouts on the Forty Acres.

Moreover, Ehlinger could go as high as a day two pick come the arrival of the 2021 NFL Draft. HE had a stellar senior campaign with Texas statistically.

In 10 games played last fall with the Longhorns, Ehlinger registered 2,566 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns, just five interceptions, a 60.2 completion percentage, 8.9 adjusted yards per passing attempt, and a 150.7 passer efficiency rating.

He also added 377 rushing yards (3.3 yards per attempt) and eight rushing touchdowns.

For his career in total in four years with Texas, Ehlinger registered 11,436 passing yards, 94 passing touchdowns, 27 interceptions, 1,903 rushing yards, and 33 rushing touchdowns. Ehlinger set a number of records during his four years playing on the Forty Acres.
