3) Texas football transfer targets to replace Jalen Green

A defensive back that is a frequent entrant into the transfer portal in the last few years is the now former Florida State Seminoles and Tulane Green Wave redshirt senior cornerback and former highly touted blue chip recruit Kyle Meyers. This sizable and gifted 6-foot-1 and 180 pound cornerback is a native of New Orleans, LA, although he didn’t hold a Texas scholarship offer coming out of high school.

Meyers was one of the more highly ranked recruits that is currently sitting in the transfer portal. But it was a good while ago that Meyers was recruited out of Holy Cross High School in Louisiana in the first place. He was a big part of Florida State’s 2016 recruiting class, when current Texas A&M Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher was still leading the way in Tallahassee.

He ranked as the nation’s No. 256 2016 high school prospect, No. 25 cornerback, and No. 17 prospect out of Louisiana (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranked him as the No. 24 cornerback and No. 15 prospect out of Louisiana. He held offers from the likes of the Clemson Tigers, LSU Tigers, Ole Miss Rebels, Minnesota Golden Gophers, Mississippi State, and Utah Utes, coming out of high school during the 2016 cycle.

Meyers also brings a plethora of proven experience to the table if the Longhorns want to pursue him out of the portal. Between his five years playing for Florida State and Tulane, Meyers registered 81 career combined tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, three interceptions, 10 pass breakups, and two forced fumbles.

And during the 2020 campaign in particular with the Green Wave, Meyers registered five combined tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss in just two games played.
