3) Predicting next 2023 Texas football commit

A good prediction for who could be the next commit in the Longhorns 2023 recruiting class is one target that multiple coaching staffs have prioritized for a good while now. And the next name up on this list is one that the Longhorns had on their radar for a long time.

The elite four-star Westlake 6-foot-3 and 205 pound wide receiver/tight end Jaden Greathouse received his Texas scholarship offer nearly one year ago up to this point, back on March 25, 2020. And only four other programs have offered Greathouse in that time since. Texas along with the rival Oklahoma Sooners and Baylor Bears were the initial three programs to offer Greathouse, all coming back in March 2020.

The offers from Texas, Oklahoma, and Baylor, all came Greathouse’s way following the lockdowns and/or quarantines in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus he hasn’t got much, or any, in-person contact on campuses with coaching staffs that are pursuing him now.

That could actually be something that gives the Longhorns a leg up, since they’re the local program that are pursuing Greathouse in their own backyard.

The 2020 MaxPreps Preseason All-American ranks as the nation’s No. 44 2023 high school prospect, top overall tight end, and No. 2 prospect out of Texas (Top247). And the other two programs to offer Greathouse thus far are the Arkansas Razorbacks and Penn State Nittany Lions. Although, it would be really big for the Longhorns to zero in on a potential pledge from Greathouse in the near future.
