There’s very few places around the college football landscape right now experiencing as much success on the recruiting trail as they are on the Forty Acres. The huge run in the last few weeks for both the 2022 Texas football recruiting class and the 2023 class came to a head at the end of the month of February.

Last week, newly hired head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns were able to land a commitment from the highly touted four-star Aledo 6-foot and 180 pound safety Bryan Allen Jr. Landing the commitment from Allen Jr. gave the Longhorns their seventh commit in their 2022 class, and the second in the defensive backfield. They also snagged their first commitment in their 2023 recruiting class, from the elite five-star El Campo running back Rueben Owens.

The other defensive back commit for the Longhorns 2022 class at the moment is the talented four-star Memorial cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau. Allen Jr. also gives the Longhorns 2022 class their sixth blue chip commit. All of their blue chip commits in the mix also rank inside the top 150 high school prospects in the nation (247Sports Composite).

What Texas is getting out of the commitment from Allen Jr. is the nation’s No. 88 2022 high school prospect, No. 6 safety, and No. 18 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 58 high school prospect, No. 6 safety, and No. 13 prospect out of Texas.

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2022 Texas recruiting class now ranks at No. 4 in the nation and in the top spot in the Big 12 ahead of the Oklahoma Sooners.

Who could be next up for the Longhorns 2022 class after landing the commitment from Allen Jr.? Here’s a look at three options as to who that could be.
