2) Next 2022 Texas football commit after Bryan Allen Jr.

Another ultra-highly touted and coveted high school prospect that the Longhorns 2022 recruiting class was after for a good while now is the elite Bowie 6-foot-4 and 310 pound offensive tackle Devon Campbell. About the most highly rated prospect that the Longhorns could prioritize right now (outside of the elite five-star North Shore cornerback Denver Harris) is the Bowie, TX, product Campbell.

Texas has yet to land any commits along the offensive line in their 2022 class. And there might not be a single more important position group than the offensive line for this group. Now former Texas head coach Tom Herman and ex-offensive line coach Herb Hand missed on a lot of key prospects in the trenches for the 2021 class, which could cost them in the near future.

That’s why landing a commitment from Campbell is so crucial for the 2022 class.

The good news is that, right now, the 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions have Campbell trending firmly in favor of the Longhorns over the rest of the competition. All four of the expert Crystal Ball Predictions favor him to land with Texas. Even the Rivals FutureCast has all of their analysts and publishers picking Campbell to land on the Forty Acres.

Texas is one of nearly 30 schools on Campbell’s lengthy offer sheet. The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Crimson Tide, LSU, Oklahoma, Auburn, Florida, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Miami Hurricanes, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Oregon, TCU Horned Frogs, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and USC.

Moreover, Campbell ranks as the nation’s No. 7 2022 high school prospect, top overall offensive guard (he’s listed differently in the 247Sports recruiting profile), and No. 3 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 22 high school prospect, top overall offensive guard, and No. 6 prospect out of Texas.
