Texas Basketball: 3 early grand prize 2022 recruiting targets
3) Early grand prize 2022 Texas basketball targets
What better way to start off a list like this than with an ultra highly coveted in-state target that Smart and the Longhorns could build a really solid foundation off of in their 2022 recruiting class. Texas was in on the recruitment of the talented 6-foot-8 and 215 pound Garland power forward Zuby Ejiofor.
This Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex product was offered by the Longhorns back in August 2020. But since only one Division I program offered Ejiofor since the turn of the calendar year (Western Kentucky), all but one of the six programs that are in on him are pretty entrenched. But Texas is the biggest in-state and/or Big 12 program to offer Ejiofor as of the morning of March 6.
The other schools on Ejiofor’s offer sheet includes the TCU Horned Frogs, Virginia Tech Hokies, Seton Hall Pirates, and Houston Cougars. The Baylor Bears and Purdue Boilermakers also have reported scout looks at Ejiofor.
Moreover, he ranks as the nation’s No. 41 2022 high school prospect, No. 9 power forward, and No. 4 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 41 high school prospect, No. 10 power forward, and No. 10 prospect out of Texas.
All in all, Ejiofor is known more to be a natural post scorer that is currently working to expand his game beyond from within 10-feet from the rim. He is also a very solid two-way forward that has the size and gifted physical tools to contend with most others at his position on both ends of the floor. Ejiofor would be a versatile and talented initial addition to the Longhorns 2022 class if Smart could get that done.
