Texas Football: 3 key out of state 2022 targets for Sark this offseason
3) Key out of state 2022 prospects this offseason: Jacob Sexton
One of the key positions of emphasis for the Longhorns 2022 class still early on in this cycle is in the trenches on the offensive side of the ball. Texas did not do well under the direction of Herman and former offensive line coach/co-offensive coordinator Herb Hand to recruit in the trenches for their 2021 class. They missed a plethora of big time in-state prospects in the trenches for that cycle.
Sark and new Texas offensive line coach (formerly of the Alabama Crimson Tide) Kyle Flood now have the opportunity to right that ship for this position group in their 2022 class. Texas has yet to land a commit to fill out their offensive line in the 2022 class as of yet, which makes the first prospect up on the list so important.
Texas did well to get in early on the highly coveted four-star Deer Creek 6-foot-5 and 285 pound offensive tackle Jacob Sexton. This product coming out of Edmond, OK, looks to currently be trending to the Longhorns Big 12 foe Oklahoma. But Texas also appears to remain very much in the running to get Sexton.
Texas is now one of nearly 20 schools to have sent Sexton a scholarship offer. Some of the other notable schools that have offered him as of the night of March 17 includes the Crimson Tide, Texas A&M Aggies, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Arkansas Razorbacks, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Stanford Cardinal, and TCU Horned Frogs.
Moreover, Sexton ranks as the nation’s No. 210 2022 high school prospect, No. 27 offensive tackle, and No. 3 prospect out of Oklahoma (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 27 offensive tackle and No. 4 prospect out of Oklahoma.
