Underrated 2022 in-state targets to prioritize No. 2: Zach Evans

This is not the same uber-talented Texas native running back Zachary Evans that was so potent but had one of the craziest recruiting sagas in recent memory for any Longhorns high school prospect.

The next name up on this list has the same name as the current TCU Horned Frogs freshman rusher, but three-star 5-foot-9 and 200 pound Rockwall-Heath running back Zach Evans is a much different prospect.

Since Texas already holds a commitment from the highly coveted four-star Klein Cain running back Jaydon Blue in their 2022 class, they would have to push hard to nab Evans too. But getting more depth back at the running back position would be huge for Sark and his staff. Running backs coach Stan Drayton certainly has the capabilities on the recruiting trail to get this done.

Evans got his scholarship offer from Texas back on Jan. 15, 2021. Sark and Drayton weren’t after Evans for all that long, but they’re also not getting in on his recruitment super late either. Texas is one of a dozen schools to have sent an offer Evans’ way thus far.

Some of the other notable schools on Evans’ offer sheet includes the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Utah Utes, Arizona State Sun Devils, Kansas Jayhawks, Rice Owls, and North Texas Mean Green.

Moreover, Evans ranks as the nation’s No. 557 2022 high school prospect, No. 46 running back, and No. 83 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 50 running back and No. 108 prospect out of Texas.
