Underrated 2022 in-state targets to prioritize No. 3: Kivon Wright

There’s still no commitments that Texas holds along the defensive line up to this point in their 2022 class. Texas does have one commit that plays along the front seven in the 2022 class now, after landing the unheralded three-star Arlington-Martin inside linebacker Trevell Johnson.

A potential first addition for Texas along the defensive line in the 2022 class could be three-star defensive tackle Kristopher Ross, as he’s got a looming decision date set for March 23.

But another prospect that plays along the defensive line (can also play as an edge rusher) that is worth watching for the Longhorns for this recruiting cycle is a tremendously underrated in-state weak-side defensive end. The three-star 6-foot-4 and 220 pound Manvel defensive end/edge rusher Kivon Wright is a force to be reckoned with.

And it feels like only a matter of time before Wright starts receiving more of the recognition that he so deserves around the college football recruiting landscape.

Wright now holds offers from nine schools. But more than half of the schools on his offer sheet came his way since the start of the month of March. Some of the notable schools on his offer sheet includes the Boston College Eagles, Louisiana Ragin-Cajuns, East Carolina Pirates, Houston Cougars, Marshall Thundering Herd, and UTSA Roadrunners.

Moreover, there is no 247Sports Composite ranking in yet for Wright at this point. But the Top247 does rank him as the No. 52 strong-side defensive end (classified differently in this ranking category) and No. 131 prospect out of Texas.

Sark and the Longhorns have not sent a scholarship offer Wright’s way as of yet, even though they’ve given him a reported scout look.
