Texas Football: 4 impactful spring camp absences due to injury
Impactful injuries in spring No. 4: Brayden Liebrock
At this point, the receiving corps is going to look a whole lot different for Sark and the Longhorns this year than it did for former fourth-year head coach Tom Herman at the conclusion of last season. Texas lost the likes of the former Michigan Wolverines grad transfer wide receiver Tarik Black and junior wideout Brennan Eagles to the NFL Draft.
And the Longhorns are now going to have to do without one of their more recent blue chip signees at the tight end position in spring ball this year. Former four-star recruit and sophomore tight end Brayden Liebrock is a potential breakout candidate to watch among players of his academic year for the Longhorns.
But a lingering shoulder injury will keep Liebrock out of spring ball, which is a shame given how much potential he could have in this new offense drawn up by Sark and new offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood. Liebrock also needs to continue to work on his ability in the blocking game since he doesn’t have much game action under his belt thus far.
Liebrock has only played in bits and pieces of two games since first arriving on the Forty Acres two years ago. In those two games played over the course of the last two years, Liebrock registered just two catches for 11 yards and no touchdowns.
The third-year tight end and Arizona native has the possibility to eclipse senior Cade Brewer at this position group as the most productive one in the receiving game. But he’ll have to find more traction now come the start of fall camp since he’ll miss spring ball.
