A spot on the offensive side of the ball where the Longhorns need to find some answers this offseason is along the offensive line. Texas does look like they will get senior offensive guard/center Derek Kerstetter back this year, along with the likes of redshirt senior right guard Denzel Okafor and redshirt junior offensive tackle Junior Angilau.

Texas’ biggest loss in the trenches by far this offseason was with the standout 6-foot-7 and 300 pound redshirt junior offensive tackle Sam Cosmi, who left for the NFL Draft.

Another notable loss along the offensive line for the Longhorns this offseason included the junior offensive guard and former underrated three-star recruit Willie Tyler. As a whole, the Longhorns had two noteworthy losses along the offensive line to the transfer portal so far this offseason. But the other, redshirt junior offensive tackle Reese Moore, already found his next landing spot with the FCS Abilene Christian Wildcats.

Tyler is a former product of Iowa Western Community College and signed with the Longhorns 2019 recruiting class as a three-star JUCO prospect. He ranked as the nation’s No. 137 2019 JUCO prospect, No. 24 offensive tackle, and No. 10 prospect out of Wisconsin (247Sports Composite).

Coming out of Iowa Western CC, Tyler did have some notable offers from the likes of the SMU Mustangs, West Virginia Mountaineers, Miami Hurricanes, and Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, among others. But he chose to take his talents to the Forty Acres.

Tyler did get on the field for a few snaps during the 2019 season, his first playing for Texas. But he didn’t have any snaps in 2020, as he opted out of the 2020 season and then put his name in the transfer portal.
