4 former Texas football players who turned into studs elsewhere
Jordan Elliott, DL
As the lone former Longhorns transfer on this list that has already played in an NFL game in his football career, the former talented four-star recruit and Mizzou Tigers defensive end Jordan Elliott is certainly a name worth noting. Before the transfer portal became what it is in this day and age, Elliott was one of the more high-profile transfers when he took his talents from Texas to Mizzou back during the 2017 offseason.
At the time, Elliott had to sit out one year before having two solid campaigns with Mizzou back in 2018 and 2019. In his one year playing for Texas, Elliott registered just eight combined tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and no sacks, in bits and pieces of four games played.
Once he landed with Mizzou during the 2018 season, Elliott was able to really breakthrough. During the 2018 campaign, Elliott registered 24 combined tackles, eight tackles for loss, three sacks, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble.
For his career between Texas and Mizzou in total over the course of three years, Elliott registered 76 combined tackles, 18.0 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble. His best individual season was likely in 2019, his final year of his college career.
Elliott was one of the better defensive linemen in recent memory for the Tigers, hence why he was picked up by the Cleveland Browns with the 88th overall pick in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. In his rookie campaign playing for the Browns in the NFL last season, Elliott was decent registering more than 15 combined tackles and one quarterback pressure. He did only get to start in one game, though, for the Browns as a rookie last year.
