What still needs to be added in the Longhorns 2022 class is depth along the defensive line. Texas does have that commit from the three-star Houston-Area defensive tackle Ross in the 2022 class, but that is it at this point in time. That could all change very soon if the Longhorns were to get a commitment from the highly coveted four-star 6-foot-4 and 255 pound Brophy College Prep strong-side defensive end Zac Swanson.

This Phoenix, AZ, native could be the latest commitment in a saga of the Longhorns establishing a newfound recruiting pipeline in that state. The state of Arizona has landed key pledges for the Longhorns in recent years like former four-star tight end Brayden Liebrock, four-star wide receiver Jake Smith, and five-star running back Bijan Robinson, among others.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions have both of their expert picks in right now trending to Swnason’s commitment going the Longhorns way. Although the Rivals FutureCast doesn’t have any analysts or publishers placing their prediction in for Swanson’s commit at the moment, there’s still the writing on the wall that he could land on the Forty Acres.

Texas is one of 17 schools that have offered Swanson thus far. Some of the other notable schools in his offer sheet are the Kentucky Wildcats, Oregon Ducks, USC Trojans, Auburn Tigers, Iowa State Cyclones, Florida State Seminoles, Michigan State Spartans, Oklahoma, Utah Utes, and UCLA Bruins.

Moreover, Swanson ranks as the nation’s No. 343 2022 high school prospect, No. 20 strong-side defensive end, and No. 6 prospect out of Arizona (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 20 strong-side defensive end and No. 5 prospect out of Arizona.
